The Only Goal " Washoku Club "

Ever since Washoku became an Intangible Cultural Heritage, it has been and will be in the spotlight more and more.  I am veru delighted about this fact.  However, there are still countless details of Washoku that are yet to be spread.  For example, traditional sushi of Japan differs from the California Rolls that you may be familiar with. Did you know that there are many other types of Sushi?  To name a few, there is Nigiri Sushi, Inari Sushi, Ure Sushi, Chirashi Sushi and many more.  Stop by and find out what these types of Sushi mean and how they taste!  Sushi compliments rice and miso soup and by eating them together to experience the genuine flavors of every ingredient.

The wonders of Washoku...original dishes made with the best seasonal ingredients of the season, local specialties made with the region`s fruitages and climate, all perfectly decorated and served.

Our goal is to spread the unknown yet the attractive aspects of "Washoku" to the world.

Experienceing the Beauty of "Cooking, Eating, Decorating and Presentation"

You will have the chance to learn both the basic and professional techniques used when making washoku.  We will also learn manners, such as deciding which dishware to serve each food and how to eat each dish.  These are just as vital as the process of cooking.  Wanting someone to enjoy what you made...this may seem like a difficult goal but don`t think too deeply into it.  It all depends on the love and hard work you put into the process.  In Japan we call this "Omote-Nashi".  Now it`s your turn to make the "Omote-Nashi" effort for someone special.

I entered the culinary world at the age of 18, and for the last 18 years I have worked in French and Japanese cuisine. Later, while working as a head chef of French cuisine in Tokyo, I opened a cooking school and taught Japanese cuisine to tourists from overseas. At the same time as COVID-19 began to emerge, I established the Washoku Club: a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the appeal of Japanese food both at home and abroad.
